You can point all you want but if Trico simply refuses to move that way, there's not much you can do. The first few hours I was fine with Trico doing whatever it was doing, it only took a minute or two to get Trico to move but later on there were couple of places where it was 3-5 minutes and that's just too long. Trico didn't move anywhere, not up, not backwards, nowhere, just stood still, looking around. I knew the solution, I even double-checked from youtube because Trico was so unresponsive. I spent roughly 20 minutes, the length of an episode I was watching trying get Trico to do one exact jump upwards (in a dark room/cave, you might know the place even from that vague description). Same issue people who can differentiate between 30fps and 60fps. You did and you chose not to let it bother you, or you can't tell it sucks. It's not supposed to be that way and I know some people have said they've had no issues and I refuse to believe that. What I'm trying to say is imagining Trico as a pet or intentionally being shitty to control is an excuse. I restart the checkpoint and he manages to get what I wanted him to do within 2 minutes of trying. After a couple of minutes trying to kite him to the other side of the room and back to the actual side I need to go, he goes into the 'Trico needs food now!' pose and there is literally no barrel to feed him. Literally a solid minute of me beckoning over by pressing r1, or by getting on him/aside him and holding down r1 and the controls stick and he's not doing anything. So okay, lets get him to the hole in the wall. He finally gets over there and I tried knocking the door down by having him swipe (R1+Square), that didn't work. It's a smaller room and Trico is already having pathfinding problems getting to the area of both of the potential exists. One is a door that is barred from the other side and the other exit is a hole in the wall that only Trico could reach. One point in the game has two potential exits on the same side of the room. The issue lies in that Trico is buggy/slow/unresponsive. So those of you saying that 'wow you must not get the controls' are overstating how difficult 99% of the puzzles in the game are, which boil down to 'Point Trico in a direction and either have him jump or get on his hind legs.' The puzzles are easy. The game is not difficult in any way shape or form.
